FC Austin opens Elite Field at Round Rock Multipurpose Complex

Round Rock, TX – FC Austin Elite will be hosting an Open House to show off their new soccer specific stadium, Elite Field at Round Rock Multipurpose Complex on May 13 at 6pm. Guests can check out the new stadium as well as this years sponsors, while the team holds our final Open Tryout of the year. The Open House is free to the public, there is a nominal fee to tryout for the team. The Elite plan to host at least 8 home games at the new complex and will bring high level women’s soccer to Round Rock.

“Elite Field at the RRMPC will be one of the nicest facilities in all of women’s soccer, period. For too long women have had to play in the shadows of men’s soccer and we are very appreciative of the City of Round Rock for giving high level women’s soccer the home it deserves” said General Manager Danny Woodfill. “Our Elite Field will be home to some of the very best players and games from around Texas this summer and the facility will allow us to host a great game day experience for the whole family.”

Elite Field at RRMPC will be one of the first women’s first, soccer specific stadiums in the country. With a capacity of more than 1000 and a premium grass playing surface, Elite Field will be THE destination for elite level soccer. The move to Round Rock was straight forward for FC Austin Elite, who played games in Austin and Round Rock last summer. The team play in the Women’s Premier Soccer League, which is the second division of women’s soccer in the US. The WPSL is home to more than 110 teams and is the largest women’s soccer league in the world. The Elite finished fourth in the Southwest Conference in 2016 and had a roster that included several current and former US and foreign international team players. FC Austin is also expected to host this year’s Southwest Conference Championship in mid-July at the RRMPC. As one of the best facilities in the country, it is expected that Elite Field will host Regional and National Championships in women’s soccer in the coming seasons.

“Bringing WPSL fulltime to Round Rock will provide a place to display high level women’s soccer to the community and inspire the next generation of female players to grow in the game. Additionally, having such a fantastic, women first, soccer specific facility is amazing for women’s soccer. The City of Round Rock should be commended for their forward thinking and planning” said Anna Barrett, head coach of FC Austin Elite.

FC Austin Elite will have their final open tryout at Elite Field on Saturday May 13 and kick off the 2017 season the following day against Pachuca, of the Liga MX Femenil, on Sunday May 14 at 6pm. The gates will open 30 mins in advance with food venders, concessions and other family entertainment available at the field. Season and individual game tickets go on sale on May 1 online at www.FCAustinElite.com
